Monthly Recap

April Recap

Is it just me or did April FLY by? Meanwhile March felt like a million years.

Anyway, my month had absolutely no structure and was spent mostly finding enjoyment in hobbies and not putting pressure on myself to be productive. This worked out fairly well for me reading-wise, as I read 13 books this past month. I have some reviews from this past month that still need posting, but once they’re all up they’ll be linked here.

Aside from reading more books than usual this past month, I also discovered two new all-time favourites. Burn Our Bodies Down and The Midnight Lie! Both sapphic and incredibly well written.

One cool thing that did happen this past month though, was that I got to do a mini virtual Q&A with Virginia Frances Schwartz, author of Among the Fallen!

I anticipate my reading will slow down a bit come May, as I’m starting my full-time summer semester, which will be my last full semester of my MLIS (after, I anticipate a co-op placement then just finishing one course online. The co-op was originally going to be during the summer, but like everything else, has been postponed. I’m glad I can get more credits in and continue with classes while everything else is on hold at least).

Books read:

1) The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn (⭐⭐)
2) Sword in the Stars by Amy Rose Capetta & Cory McCarthy (⭐⭐)
3) Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
4) Technically, You Started It by Lana Wood Johnson (⭐⭐)
5) Home, Home by Lisa Allen-Agostini (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
6) Woman World by Aminder Dhaliwal (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
7) Orpheus Girl by Brynne Rebele-Henry (⭐⭐⭐
8) Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
9) Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco (DNF)
10) Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
11) The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)
12) Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
13) Democratically Applied Machine by Robert Colman (⭐⭐⭐⭐)

I also did really well in not getting any new books. I purchased one (well, and pre-ordered some that will be coming May/June) to support some sapphic spring releases that are being impacted by the pandemic. But hey, I’m happy to say I did a pretty good job at working on bringing the physical tbr down this month!

Books acquired:

1)  The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski
