Monthly Recap

May Recap

Hi friends! This month’s recap is being posted a few months before the month’s end because… I’m GOING TO BOOKCON!! I’ll be leaving early on the 30th to drive to New York and spending the day before the convention exploring and seeing Wicked, and then spending the weekend filled with bookish festivities. And then the long drive back home Monday.

I just finished my fourth book of the month, and can confidently say I won’t be able to finish another in time to add to this list. I work the last few days leading up to my trip, and between some other things I have to get done, and packing, and then driving and sightseeing, my next book won’t be finished until June. And I’m okay with that. I’m ready to explore some places. And take a break before I’m overloaded with the arcs I hopefully pick up at BookCon!

Books read:

1) The Lost Coast by Amy Rose Capetta (⭐️⭐️⭐️)
2) Amelia Westlake Was Never Here by Erin Gough (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
3) These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
4) Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian (⭐️⭐️⭐️)

My reading month wasn’t my best, but with the weather warming up I’ve been enjoying a lot more time doing things outside. Plus this month, my 10k training plan kicked in and I was also practicing for a pole fitness routine I performed at the showcase this past weekend. Which meant I was at the studio three evenings a week. Plus trying to fit in 3-4 runs a week. Needless to say, the time I did have to sit down and read was thoroughly enjoyed. My writing this month suffered a bit, but it’ll be a good midway break before picking up and trying to get my novel finished these next two months. This past month, I posted an update on my writing process so far. Click here if you want to read more about it!

Books acquired:

1) How To Make Friends with the Dark by Kathleen Glasgow
2) The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh
3) Frankly in Love by David Yoon
4) Screen Queens by Lori Goldstein
5) Bad Ideas by Missy Marston
6) The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wendy Chu

So not too bad. But again, I acquired more than I read. What I did manage to do earlier this month, though, was put all my physical tbr books onto a goodreads shelf so I knew just how many books I owned that are unread. While doing this, I did manage to unhaul about 20 books, leaving me now with 138 books in my physical tbr pile. Quite a few of these are from used book sales and bought at a pretty cheap price, so I don’t feel too bad about those, since I do plan on getting to them one day. But yeah, I still need to read more and acquire less.

Anyway, that’s it for this month! If any of you are going to be at BookCon, let me know! I can’t wait to meet a bunch of fellow bookworms!
